Media Arts
Media Arts is the study of human communication through film, photography, video, audio, computer/digital arts, and interactive media. Through a technological lens, NSA students will advance their understanding of creative media and its practical uses.
Curriculum
Conservatory course progression includes at least two conservatory classes each year. The curriculum will include courses such as:
- Media Arts I-IV
- Digital Arts & Design
- Filmmaking
- Photography
- Creative Writing
- Audio Engineering
- Yearbook
- Drawing/Painting
- Dual Enrollment Media Arts Course
Media Arts Audition Requirements
This conservatory is currently only open to rising freshmen or sophomores.
All students must fill out an application in order to audition at NSA. If you have filled out the application through the school options process during the district open enrollment period (Tuesday, January 20 to Friday, February 6), you will receive a link within 24-48 hours to schedule your in-person audition on Saturday, February 7. Please check your spam folder if you don’t receive and email, and then contact the main office.
If you are applying after the open enrollment period, you will need to reach out to the conservatory director to schedule it for another day at their availability.
Day of Audition and Interview
Arrive early, dress appropriately, and be prepared to:
• Discuss why you would like to come to NSA
• Discuss what positive qualities you have to offer NSA
• A portfolio submission with a variety of media (examples, but not limited to digital graphics, films, photography, podcasts, animation, etc.) A computer will be available for files more easily presented from a flash drive.
• A written 200-300-word artist statement
